Runescape Quest Guide

Family Crest

Start:
Dimintheis, South-East of the East bank in Varrock.

Required:
Items:
1 Cooked Swordfish, 1 Cooked Salmon, 1 Cooked Tuna, 1 Cooked Bass, 1 Cooked Shrimp. 2 cut rubies. Runes to cast all of the Blast spells (Water, Earth, Fire, Air and Death runes). 2 anti poison potions, a pickaxe, good armor, a good weapon, ring mould, necklace mould and some good food. You may also take some prayer potions if you like.
Skills:
Lvl 40 smithing, lvl 40 mining, lvl 40 crafting, lvl 59 magic. You can use potions to boost stats (like wizard mind bomb for magic). 45 cooking and 50 fishing will be needed if you want to fish and cook all the fish instead of buying it from other players.
Monster encounters:
Lvl 170 Chronozon

Start by going to Dimintheis. You can find him South-East of the East bank in Varrock.

Talk to him about the family crest. He will ask you to find his 3 sons to retrieve the 3 parts of the family crest.

First son

Go to Caleb. He lives in Catherby in a house North-East of the bank.

Talk to Caleb and he will ask you to get some ingredients in return for the Family Crest part.
Give him a :

Cooked Swordfish ( you can catch these in Catherby by harpoon fishing)
Cooked Salmon (you can catch these at a river by fly-fishing)
Cooked Tuna (you can catch these in Catherby by harpoon fishing)
Cooked Bass (you can catch these in Catherby by big net fishing)
Cooked Shrimp (you can catch these in Catherby by small net fishing)

When you gave him all the Cooked Fish he will give you the first Crest part.

Note: Make sure Caleb tells you about the Second Son.

Second son

Go to the Man in the Al-Kharid Mine near the gold ore rocks wearing a yellow cape.

Talk to him about the Crest. He will give it to you if you give him a necklace and a ring of the finest gold possible (Perfect Gold). He will also tell you that a guy called Boots knows where this ‘Perfect Gold’ is.

Go to Boots in the dwarven mine.

You can find him at the most South-West spot in the Mine. Talk to him and he will tell you the spot of the Perfect gold.

Now get prepared for some fighting. You will need to defend from (or kill) 2 Hellhounds (lvl 122). Get food, armor and a weapon and go to East Ardougne. You will find a dungeon entrance there.

Get inside and you will encounter some Hobgoblins (lvl 48). Just walk further along the path and you will encounter some ogres (lvl 53). South and North of the dungeon you can find a room with a door. Outside and inside these rooms are levers. You will have to complete a puzzle in order to open the gate to the Hellhounds and the perfect gold.

Go to the north wall and pull that lever up.
Go to the south room and pull that lever up.
Go back to the north wall and pull the lever down.
Go inside the north room and pull that lever up.
Go outside and pull the lever on the north wall up.
Go to the south room and pull that lever down.

Now go to the gate with the door and go inside. You will find 2 Hellhounds (lvl 122) there and the Gold. You will have to mine 2 pieces of perfect gold ore.

Note: If you really don’t want to fight the Hellhounds search for a world with a ranger inside the room. They often train there.

When you mined the 2 pieces of perfect gold ore get out the dungeon and make the Ruby ring and Ruby necklace. If you don’t know how, please refer to our Crafting Guide.

Give the Ruby ring and Necklace to the second son and you will receive the second part of the crest.

Third son

Go to Jolly Bar inn in Varrock. Go upstairs and speak to Johnathon. He seems to be poisoned. Give him an anti poison potion and he will tell you where the last Crest part is. He will tell you a demon got the Crest part and that you will need to kill it.

Go to Edgevill and get ready for the battle with the lvl 170 Chronozon. You will have to cast all the Blast spells (air blast, water blast, earth blast and fire blast) to the demon so take your runes with you. Also take a lot of food with you. Remember that the Demon is in the Wilderness part of the dudgeon. So don’t take any valuable stuff inside if you cant afford to loose it.

Go to the trapdoor South of Edgevill (near the coffins) and go down.

Make your way to the North of the dungeon. Go through the gate and enter the Wilderness.

Now go West, North, West and then South past the Black Demons. Attack Chronozon.
(If you cant find Chronozon search around lvl 3 Wilderness)

Cast all of the Blast spells on him. You must hit the blast spells and do damage for it to work. After that kill him. He will only use melee so you can protect from melee if you want.

If you did it correctly he will drop the Crest piece. Go back to a bank and use the 3 crest pieces together. Now go back to Dimintheis and give him the Crest.

Quest complete!

Reward:
Steel Gauntlets (enchantable)
You can get these enchanted at one of the brothers:
First son in Catherby: Cooking gauntlets. These will make you burn less fish (Lobsters, Swordfish and Shark).
Second son in the mine: Goldsmithing gauntlets. These will give you more experience when smelting gold ores into bars (56.25 exp instead of the normal 22.5 exp).
Third son in Varrock: Chaos Gauntlets. These will make you hit harder when using bolt spells.
